September 6; Day Six

Today is my 52nd birthday. When I came downstairs, the kitchen table was decorated with a table cloth, clear dishes, and wrapped presents. There were 52 tiny, purple, handmade paper flowers dangling from the ceiling along with some paper butterflies, courtesy of Liz.

All day long, happy birthday wishes have been coming through facebook and texts. Every message I read reminds me that each person is a part of my life’s journey. What joy that is.

I didn’t go or do anything out of the ordinary this year for my birthday. I spent time on the computer; worked on the final project for the Accounting Services Certificate. (I swear that project is taking me longer than the whole class!) I’ve had conversations with the girls; we watched the Fire Fly movie, “Serenity”. Wonderfully intense movie.  I am about to go have a root beer float. I wanted that instead of a cake. Maybe watch a little more tv.

The presents I received were perfect. Liz had made a bracelet for me a couple of years ago and I asked if she could make me another one but add some small beads. She wasn’t sure exactly what I was looking for, so she made four, plus matching earrings. She didn’t have the jump rings needed to make the jewelry, so she took wire and made the jump rings. That child has talent and patience.

Jessica bought a pair of ear buds for me because the ones I’ve been using gave me little electrical shocks. I thought the recording I was listening to was just scratchy or something until it started hurting a little to listen. She crocheted around the cords for protection because the reason I was getting shocked was due to one of the cats chewing on the cords. Odd cat, that one.

In addition, Jessica gave me a little wind-up music box. I love music boxes. The most interesting gift was the book she gave me. It is called, “642 Things to Write About”.  I have dabbled in many areas, but even though I may be pretty good at a lot of things, nothing gives me satisfaction. I have found that I enjoy writing. Sometimes, however, a blank page can be paralyzing. This book will be challenging and rewarding and may be just what I have been looking for.

Some of the 642 things to write about might just become part of this blog.

Thank you for reading my blog. And if you have wished me a happy birthday, I thank you for that.

Good night.
